ROYPOW recently achieved a major milestone with the successful deployment of its PowerFusion Series X250KT Diesel Generator Hybrid Energy Storage System (DG Hybrid ESS) at over 4,200 meters on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in Tibet, supporting a key national infrastructure project. This marks the highest-altitude deployment of a jobsite energy storage system to date and underscores ROYPOW’s ability to deliver reliable, stable, efficient power for critical operations even in the most challenging high-altitude environments.

Project Background

The major national infrastructure project is led by China Railway 12th Bureau Group Co., Ltd., one of the most capable subsidiaries of the Fortune Global 500 company China Railway Construction Corporation. The company required energy solutions to ensure a reliable power supply for the project’s stone crushing and sand production line, concrete mixing equipment, various construction machinery, as well as the living quarters.

Project Challenges

The project is located in a high-altitude region above 4,200 meters, where subzero temperatures, rugged terrain, and a lack of supporting infrastructure pose significant operational difficulties. With no access to the utility grid, ensuring a stable and reliable power supply was a major concern. Conventional diesel generators, while commonly used in such settings, proved inefficient with high fuel consumption, unstable performance in extremely cold conditions, considerable noise, and emissions. These limitations made it clear that a fuel-saving, low-emission, and climate-resilient energy solution was essential to keep construction activities and onsite facilities running smoothly.

 

Solutions: ROYPOW X250KT DG Hybrid ESS

After multiple rounds of in-depth technical discussions with the construction team from China Railway 12th Bureau, ROYPOW was selected as the energy solutions provider. In March 2025, the company ordered five sets of ROYPOW PowerFusion Series X250KT DG Hybrid ESS paired with intelligent diesel generator sets for the project, totaling nearly 10 million RMB. The system stood out for its key advantages:

When loads are low and generator efficiency is poor, the DG Hybrid ESS automatically shifts to battery power, reducing inefficient generator runtime. As demand increases, the DG Hybrid ESS seamlessly integrates battery and generator power to maintain the generator within its optimal load range of 60% to 80%. This dynamic control minimizes inefficient cycling, keeps the generator operating at peak efficiency, and contributes to overall fuel savings of 30–50% or even more. Additionally, it reduces wear and tear on the equipment and extends its service life, cutting the cost associated with frequent maintenance.

Additionally, the ROYPOW X250KT DG Hybrid ESS is engineered to handle rapidly fluctuating loads and enable seamless load transfer and support during sudden load spikes or drops, significantly improving power supply quality. To meet the demands of fast installation and deployment, it supports plug and play with all the powerful configurations integrated in a lighter and more compact cabinet. Built with an ultra-rugged, industrial-grade structure, the ROYPOW X250KT DG Hybrid ESS is designed to deliver stable and reliable performance even in the harshest environments under high altitudes and extreme temperatures, making it ideal for remote and demanding jobsites.

 

Results

After deploying the ROYPOW X250KT DG Hybrid ESS, the challenges previously caused by no grid access as well as diesel-only generators, such as excessive fuel consumption, unstable output, high noise levels, and heavy emissions, have been successfully resolved. They operated continuously without failures, maintaining reliable power for critical operations and ensuring the uninterrupted progress of the major national infrastructure project.

Following on this success, a mining company has approached the ROYPOW team to discuss energy solutions for its mine construction and operations located at an average altitude of 5,400 meters in Tibet. The project is expected to deploy over 50 sets of ROYPOW DG Hybrid ESS units, marking another milestone in high-altitude power innovation.
